This numbered silkscreen, #35/40, was created by the renowned artist Ikki Matsumoto in the late 1970s. Titled "Tennis Anyone?," this piece captures the love of tennis. Ikki and Polly loved watching Connors and MacEnroe battle it out on the courts, so Ikki found a way to use his iconic and whimsical sandpipers minding their own business when a Pelican shows up trying to pick up a match. It was recently acquired from a collector's estate and comes with a dated frame and mats that are not acid-free, so we recommend replacing them for preservation purposes.
Tennis Anyone? Vintage by Ikki Matsumoto
This is Ikki's daughter, Amy Matsumoto. I have been actively involved in my father's artwork since 1987. I have seeking out vintage Ikki's and restoring them to their original beauty, if possible. If you purchase from me, you can buy with confidence that the artwork is authentic, because I authenticate each piece as I clean them. I will emboss each piece and include a certificate of authenticity and a bio on Ikki.
Image Dimensions: 16" x 16" approx.
I have to wait until after May 1st, 2024 since the artwork is located in Seattle, WA and I have 50 plus pieces of artwork that I purchased and I'm going to fly out and rent a mini van and drive back across country. I'm having to wait, because it's Winter in the Northwest and I've never driven in the snow, so I need to wait, but the good news is if you pre-buy one of these estate pieces and you are along my travels home, then we can meet in person for you to get your artwork.
